By 2020, the Government would like all schools to be models of energy efficiency, renewable energy use and water management. They should take the lead in their communities by showcasing wind, solar and bio-fuel energy, low-energy equipment, freshwater conservation, use of rainwater and other measures. The scheme is being overseen by Ofsted, so it’s important that you’re taking the right steps to show your commitment to the environment.

One of the easiest ways for you to become more sustainable is by looking at the source of your energy and consumption, switching to green energy tariffs. This means your energy has come from renewable sources, showing the first steps of caring for the environment.

At A Greener Solution we pride ourselves on helping you become leaders within your communities by reducing energy waste and looking at sustainable energy procurement.

  • UK legislation
  • Carbon basics Monitor, manage and reduce.

Completion of the course will give staff a 3 year certification and will show your establishment’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. It will also show your students the proactive approach you are taking in the conservation of energy.

At A Greener Solution we not only look at training for staff, we also provide you with tools to empower your pupils with the knowledge and skill set to become champions in energy efficiency, and leaders within their communities.

Smart Technology

Running a school buildings’ budget can be a full-time job in itself! Our monitoring software allows you to manage and reduce energy consumption, saving you time and money.

Our Energy Monitoring System takes your AMR (automated meter readings) data and converts it into clear graphs, charts and reports for your organisation, providing an essential tool for monitoring and reducing your energy usage and carbon emissions.

Within our team we have specialists from many backgrounds, so we can provide AMR hardware, appropriate to your needs, from multiple hardware vendors.

The on-line energy monitoring software can import data from any source including data loggers, smart meters, IMAP mailbox, PV Panel inverters and remote ftp collection direct from a building management system (BMS).  Many large organisations have data loggers attached to all the utilities revenue meters serving their premises and are unaware how to access and view this data. The best feature of the system is that all this divergent data from around your organisation can be organised in one intuitive energy portal.

Give us a call on 0191 500 9786 to arrange a demo of the system in action, and find out how this can benefit your organisation.

Display Energy Certificates (DECs)

Display Energy Certificates (DECs) were introduced to raise public awareness of energy use. They are a legal requirement for all publicly funded buildings over 250m2. Once a DEC is issued it must be displayed, in a prominent place which is clearly visible to the public. The advisory report contains recommendations for improving the energy performance of the building.

The validity of a DEC will vary, depending upon the size of the building. Building DECs with a floor space of between 250m2 and 999m2, hold a validity of 10 years. For buildings over 1000m2 the validity is 12 months.

Our in-house energy assessors, are accredited to produce DECs and Advisory Reports on your behalf. They ensure compliance is achieved within your organisation and offer a comprehensive guide to energy efficiency. Our support and guidance throughout helps you to improve your energy rating and reduce your consumption.

We are happy to support and advise you through the due diligence process to ensure you are fully compliant.

Air Conditioning Inspections (TM44)

Air Conditioning Inspections are a legal requirement and fall under the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations. They are often referred to as TM44 inspections. The aim is to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency for buildings which use Air Conditioning systems, as they can very often consume a large amount of energy.

TM44 air conditioning inspections must be carried out by an accredited Air Conditioning Energy Assessor on systems with an effective output of more than 12kw. This needs to be carried out at least once every 5 years.

Once your onsite inspection has taken place, an Air Conditioning report and certificate will be produced. This will detail recommendations which will help to improve the efficiency of the buildings Air Conditioning System.

We have unrivalled experience in delivering Air Conditioning Inspections and work with a variety of organisations to ensure compliance and improve efficiency. We offer a comprehensive AC Inspection service in line with the TM44 methodology. An on-site inspection will be undertaken by an experienced and accredited AC Inspector, who will then prepare an AC Inspection report and certificate.

Having your air conditioning system inspected can improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs.
